Recreational Program (4 yrs - 18 yrs)

ANNOUNCEMENT: Beginning FALL 2016, per US Youth Soccer and Delaware Youth Soccer Instructional League Rules, teams entering the league will be formed based on birth year.

KSC offers more ways for the young soccer player to grow their love of learning and playing the game.

Our Recreational soccer program offers opportunity to every player, from the 6 year-old just starting out to 12 year-olds and older who want to grow through advanced skills training and great team participation. With over 40 year heritage of promoting good sportsmanship and creating fun learning environment for youth soccer players, KSC has a place for every player. For kids at age three (5) and below, please check our Foundation Programs.

We have separate divisions for boys and girls. Practices are held, at least, once a week by parent coaches, and games are played on Saturdays.

For 2017/18 Season, Birth year 2007 and older players will participate in the Delaware Youth Soccer Association Interclub League. This league is played against teams in similar age groups from local clubs. Games are played at Kirkwood Soccer and the local clubs. The schedule is generated by Delaware Youth Soccer Association.

Recreational Program FAQs

When will I hear from the Coach?

Players will be notified 1-2 weeks before the beginning of the season provided payment has been received for your child. Please put a home phone number or a number where there is an answering machine. This will make communications by the coach more efficient.

Do I have to travel to Kirkwood to practice?

No! Kirkwood has teams and practice sites throughout New Castle County - Newark, Bear, New Castle, Wilmington, and  Middletown to name a few. We are not restricted to just the area surrounding the club.

When and where do we practice?

The Club does not dictate the time or location for practice. Coaches select a location and time once they have their roster.   The older teams only have 2 or 3 teams, so the location may not be close to everyone participating. Teams practice an average of twice weekly. All age brackets will play games on Saturdays. Older age groups (U12 and older) will play games in the Delaware Youth Soccer Association Interclub league with other soccer clubs on area fields.

How are teams formed?

We try to have teams set up geographically with the intent of having practice closer to you, however we can't guarantee that we will have coaches in each area.
Requests for a specific coach cannot be guarenteed. Due to a large number of turnovers of players from season to season, it is impossible to keep teams intact.
